Great game, so much fun, especially when you start really rakin' in the big bucks and the pirate ships become a piece of cake to destroy, what with the two cool power-ups avoid the tiki one, it's not so powerful at all.
Download the game to play, it needs the bigger screen. Anonymous - Nov 14, -. Anonymous - Jul 29, -. Players can choose between four characters. After completing the game the first time, a fifth playable character and the ability to customize a character become available. By buying and selling goods at ports, players earn gold which they can use to buy new ships, repair and arm their ship, and buy items from Traders that improve their ship's performance or decrease enemy ship performance.
Gold can also be earned by fighting pirates and fighting a port to free it from pirates, with the latter also earning the player gems that can be sold. Money deposited in the bank will earn interest, while moneylenders will charge interest to loan the player money. In contrast to Tradewinds , the player can only own one ship at a time. However, when purchasing a stronger ship, all cannons and ammunition are transferred to the new ship. During combat, only one enemy ship can be targeted at a time unless the player has purchased special weapons.
Free Trade Mode operates the same as Tradewinds , with the focus solely on commerce and pirate battles. This mode does not appear to have an end or stopping point. Story Mode provides additional features in the form of quests offered by the Governors of the ports, additional goods that can be bought and sold, and new ports that can be visited after quests are completed.
There are many different types of cargo to buy and sell, which you must then buy when and where it's low, and sell when and where it's high. Using your warehouse to buy stuff at it's minimum and selling later at it's maximum can greatly increase your profits. For contraband items, it can be useful to save when having these on board, and restarting the game if you get caught. Also note that contraband items will be most expensive during the time they are contraband in a given port, so storing them in your warehouse and selling them once your home port has the contraband on it can yield amazing profits.
Since contraband items do not show up in the market, to sell them you must choose the "sell all" option. You will then be given a price, which can be divided by how many you own to find the price offered. Each gem occupies one unit of storage on ship. They cannot be transferred to the warehouse.
If the gems were received when the ship's hold is full, the player must sell them, other cargo or cannons to bring the total on hand to at or below the maximum allowed by the ship. Traders can be found at some Alehouses and will buy and sell magical items that can increase the abilities of the player's ship or decrease the enemy's abilities. Other items are carried by the player and can provide benefits to them.
This is the kind of game that is rather fun, amusing, and charming, but I am not sure it is the kind of game you will go back to again and again. The goal of the game is to rule the Caribbean and make as much money as you can all the while staking your claim as the ruler of the high seas.
Each character has their own backstory and personality, but Tradewinds 2 does feel like it should be more story-driven. You can unlock more characters, but chances are by the time you do this, you will have had your fill of the game. The presentation is barebones, but I like it. Many people complain that the game has a kind of flash look to it and I can see why some might say that. The art style they have gone for is rather simplistic, but I do like it. The gameplay style is probably best described as a point and click style game.
You need to make trades with other people or just plunder them and take what you want.
